About
Hi! I’m Dana Vogel, and I have been playing music professionally for over 10 years. I play classical and contemporary piano in a variety of contexts from wedding ceremonies to pop/rock shows. I have a minor in music performance and am well versed in music theory.
I am passionate about goal-based learning, so I teach using a combination of traditional and customized methods depending on what you want to accomplish. Maybe your goal is to play beautiful piano solos. Maybe your goal is to accompany yourself singing your favorite songs. Or maybe you want to play in a band or on your church’s worship team. I want to help you reach your unique goals as quickly as possible, potentially “skipping” traditional methods as appropriate.
I can teach you to read sheet music, to read complex chord charts, to “play by ear”, to do basic improvisation, to accompany vocalists, to pad, and more.
I look forward to hearing you make music!

This is a unique learning method ideal for the busy adult. If you are not able to commit to a regular in-person lesson, this is a wonderful option to be able to work at your own pace and have a real instructor without adding something to your calendar.
How it works:
- We have one initial live video call to establish goals and determine your current skills/knowledge.
- You send me a video demonstrating your current skills (if applicable).
- I send you a customized lesson video with homework/exercises to complete.
- You send back a video of your progress once you have completed the homework/exercises.
- We continue sending lesson videos and progress videos back and forth in that manner.
For this method, you will need a way to record yourself from above (camera facing down showing just your hands and the keyboard). I would recommend purchasing a gooseneck phone holder or one with an articulating arm. You can find these for as little as $15-20.
